Be Fruitful and Multiply

17 September 2022 By David Trounce

At the beginning of creation, God said to Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:28). It wasn't an arbitrary command like, "Do this or else," but more like a simple statement of fact as in, "This is the way things are." It's like God said to the fish, "Here is the … [Read more...] about Be Fruitful and Multiply

Busy

Busy - Sermo Humilis

Many of us have complained at some point about being too busy. Jesus was busy. In Mark 5:21-43, having fed a multitude of people with the words of eternal life on the shores of Galilee, to calming a storm at sea, Jesus heads for the Gadarene on the other side. Setting His foot … [Read more...] about Busy

#9 Jesus and Vocation- Jesus Through all of Life

Just as the purpose of education is not to get a job, but to walk with Jesus and fear God, so too with work. The goal is not to look busy, but to walk with the Lord and produce something of value for those in your care (Ephesians 4:28). Our education is an opportunity to … [Read more...] about #9 Jesus and Vocation

The Sabbath Under Our Feet

With The Sabbath Under Our Feet - Sermo Humilis

Sunday is typically a day of rest for the church. We have several rest days, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas among them. For some these days are glorious opportunities to say no. For others, such days are demanding and we dread them. They hang over our heads like a dark … [Read more...] about The Sabbath Under Our Feet

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
