My Orwellian Yoga Pants - Sermo Humilis

I used to be a fairly impressionable guy and, for the most part, I was willing to roll wherever my earthly appetites took me. But then I came to Christ, or, to be more accurate, Christ came to me, and I believed. Having paddled along behind Jesus these past 35 years, I find my … [Read more...] about My Purple Yoga Pants

Common Deception

Common Deception - Sermo Humilis

Nobody likes to be deceived. In fact, we dislike it so much that we will often refuse to believe we have been deceived. Our talent for being self-deceived is bad, real bad. It's worse than we know. Bright Eyes and Happy Hearts - Sermo Humilis

With young couples struggling to save up for a deposit on their first iceberg lettuce1, and firefighters dressed in full PPE gear being told they are a threat to public health2, it's no wonder that people are feeling a little disorientated. And perhaps that was the point all … [Read more...] about Bright Eyes and Happy Hearts

Live as Free Men - Sermo Humilis

Because we believe in a sovereign God who rules the whole world, right down to the death of sparrows, the naming of stars and the number of hairs on your head, we also believe in the doctrine of inerrancy. This means that we believe that the word of God is error free. This does … [Read more...] about Living as Free Men

What are we free from, free for? The bible speaks of our freedom in a number of ways. Among … [Read more...] about The Courts of Mercy

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
