Happy to be loved - Sermo Humilis

While Peter was a married man and probably among the oldest of the disciples, John was likely only a teenager. As Jesus begins His mission to fulfil the “Year of the Lord's Favour”, the year of Jubilee, two things become immediately obvious. First, His mission will be global. The Sabbath rest that Jesus came to offer is going to be offered to all humanity (Luke 4:18). Secondly, this … [Read more...] about Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth

A bit about slavery - sermo humilis

If you read the bible right through from beginning to end, one of the themes that quickly emerge is the theme of slavery and freedom. Adam is placed in a garden planted by God and told to tend it. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
