Sacrifice - Jim Elliot - sermo humilis

You and I are dying. From the moment we are born, we are dying. Every second we create more of our past. More decisions, more breathing, more love and more loathing. All of it slides by into the never-never as we race to grab more moments, more memories more of what is already … [Read more...] about Poured out Like Wine

Delighting in Eternity

Delighting in Eternity - sermo humilis

One of the things that worry some Christians about eternity is the idea of an endless and unchanging universe. Will we get bored? Will life become monotonous? The Marriage of Matthew and Sarah

Wedding of Matthew and Sarah - sermo humilis

In the beginning, God took unformed matter and began a process of division. Heaven, earth; Day, night; Light, darkness; Land, sea, ...and finally Man and woman. The goal of the gospel, which is to say, the goal of all history, is the reunion of things separated. That … [Read more...] about The Marriage of Matthew and Sarah

1 Week before Marriage – Let the Bed be Holy

1 Week Before Marriage - Let the Bed be Holy

Honour, like dishonour, always bubbles to the surface. One of the ways we express this honour … [Read more...] about 1 Week before Marriage – Let the Bed be Holy

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
