Here is a poem by my late, great and very good friend, Norm Phillips from Camden in NSW, Australia. May he rest in peace.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. (Matthew 10:29)

I probably missed you in Brisbane while I followed the arteries of retail therapy. Kevin’s grandson’s wedding was lovely in Maleny. We all stayed in Montville which is just like waking up in Leura, Blue Mountains. Laura is Spanish so it was full on. It was the toughest thing I have been called upon to do. I thought the funeral hard but I must have still been in shock. I didn’t have a lot of control during the whole stay, but her father seemed to be hovering at these times and once he came over with a kleenex box which actually made me laugh. I think he was keeping an eye on me as he always seemed to be around at those times. Maybe Mathew mentioned that I was a bit fragile. All the same I wouldn’t have missed it, difficult as it was. The trouble was I kept thinking that Kevin should have been there instead of me and at times I would have been quite happy if I wasn’t and he was. Unfortunately I don’t have a say in this life. On a lighter side I have always wanted to ride the train called the The Rocky Mountaineer so I will be going to Canada on about 7 September so it’s at my door already.
It follows the Qld. trip very closely. Hope your family are well. – Leta

Thanks Leta. A Rocky Mountain trip! That’s a big adventure. I pray it will be rewarding. Surely there must be a John Denver tribute act there that you can mooch in on with your Uke. Happy trails!

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
