The man we meet in the Garden of Eden was a babe. The fruit he ate was good, but Adam was just not ready for it. By the time we get to the Son of David, it looks like man has finally grown up and is ready to take, eat and govern what God has given him. That's Solomon, and as … [Read more...] about #18 A House for My Name – OT Survey

A Simple Faith - Sermo Humilis

In the first part of David's life, Samuel anoints David as King followed by David spending the next 10 years fleeing from Saul. Like the Greater Son of David, King David undergoes humiliation before his exaltation. Rotten Fruit - Sermo Humilis

Would you agree to the murder of one person if it meant saving a nation? This is the ethical dilemma often defended by the well-known statement, "the end justifies the means." Attributed to the 19th-century Russian revolutionary Sergey Nechayev, the saying basically means that … [Read more...] about This Fruit Stinketh to High Heaven

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
