The Tender Heart - Sermo Humilis

In John chapter 11, we come to the last and most monumental public miracle that Jesus did. The raising of Lazarus from the dead. Words that Matter-Trustworthy - Sermo Humilis

I once heard the story of a mother who’d been lied to by her 6-year-old son. To make the point that lying is bad news and destroys the joy in relationships, the mum said, “OK, for the next whole week you won’t know whether I’m telling the truth or lying.” The next day, driving … [Read more...] about Trust

Follow Me - Sermo Humilis

Comparisons are inevitable. The fact is, there are some seats over here, and there are some seats over there. James and John could tell the difference and wanted those seats just there if you don't mind. James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, … [Read more...] about Follow Me

There's a Lion in the Streets - Sermo Humilis

I've been banging on about courage and risk for some time now, and this will continue to be necessary so long as the world keeps banging on about fear and safety. It is no burden to repeat myself, and it is good for you (cf. Philippians 3:1). Alongside the godless … [Read more...] about There’s a Lion in the Streets

The Apostate Farmer - Sermo Humilis

Meet Christian, the mild-mannered man behind The Ice Age Farmer. He's an unassuming young family man who teaches people the why and how of growing your own food. Facebook is now labelling him as an agent of Russian disinformation. Christian notices things like the closing … [Read more...] about The Apostate Farmer

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
