Tell it Not in Gath - Sermo Humilis

The church has a long and unfortunate history of Christian overshare. From the Catholic confessional to the mid-week Bible study, believers have needed very little encouragement to spill the beans on themselves and, strictly for prayer, their neighbour. Truth be told, much of … [Read more...] about Tell it Not in Gath

Jesus, Comfort and Joy

#62 Jesus, Comfort and Joy - The Life and Times of Jesus

In the last few chapters of John, the disciples have become increasingly confused by the turn of events. They were expecting thrones, glory and a victorious kingdom to suddenly appear. They have given up everything and thought that they would gain it all back in Christ. Instead, … [Read more...] about Jesus, Comfort and Joy

The righteous shall inherit the land - sermo humilis

As a Man, Jesus said some things that startled His listeners. He taught them to trust that He could forgive sins, something only God could do. As the incarnate, infinite and eternal God, Jesus was equally startling in that He was genuinely interested in the amount of wine at … [Read more...] about This is My Father’s World

Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
