The 5th Commandment - Sermo Humilis

Honour is basic to the longevity of any society. In the 5th Commandment, we are taught to recognise the God-ordained authority of parents as an aspect of honouring the Lord. The reward for those who honour those who give us life, is life. God is the Father of all mankind, and … [Read more...] about The 5th Commandment

Life in The Spirit - Sermo Humilis

#18 Jesus and Death - Jesus Through all of Life

When it comes to dying, there are three positions you can take. You can not care less whether you live or die. You can deny the reality of death, or you can defy it. The Christian position is to defy it. The first option is the one we see in the days of Rome's collapse, and … [Read more...] about #18 Jesus and Death

The Testimony of Jesus Christ - Sermo Humilis

Jesus came into this world to bring life to people who were dead. Being dead in this sense does not mean that you can't walk around. Being dead means you can't see. And, apart from God's intervention, man is dead in his trespasses and sins. Blind, dead and under … [Read more...] about The Testimony of Jesus Christ

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
