Breakfast, Mercy and Worship - Sermo Humilis

In John 21:1-17 we have the account of Jesus preparing and sharing breakfast with the disciples on the beach. Jesus is now alive from the dead and has come to restore fellowship between Himself and the disciples. As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals … [Read more...] about Breakfast and Worship

People with a Large Heart - Sermo Humilis

For whatever reason, after 20 years of ministry this guy had suffered two breakdowns as a result of the kind of ministry and the kind of congregation he was called to serve in. A man in this situation … [Read more...] about People with a Large Heart

To some they were a bright light, an exemplar of holiness. To others a damn nuisance. Either way, they are remembered because, like … [Read more...] about Someone to Contend With

But this guy has all the outward appearance of a fine Christian man. With his … [Read more...] about To Those Who Believe

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
