Broken Bread

18 April 2019 By David Trounce

Broken Bread - sermo humilis

Good Friday. It was the last Passover before His death. Jesus held Himself in His own hands and broke what He held as bread for the world. No one made Him do it. 2 Weeks Before Marriage - 2 Weeks before Marriage - Please Remain Calm

A veil is a covering that conceals and separates. It is designed to keep people out and maintain holiness within. As with the priesthood of Israel, so too in marriage. For some other guy to go behind the veil without the necessary credentials spells disaster (Leviticus … [Read more...] about 2 Weeks before Marriage – Please Remain Calm

God Modus Operandi - sermo humilis

We do not serve an absent God. We serve a God who is near. Near to the brokenhearted, near to the weak, the frail, the fruitless and the frightened. We are children of the living God who knows His way to Shiloh. Shiloh was the home of the Ark and the Tabernacle during the time … [Read more...] about Hannah. God’s Modus Operandi

On Being Clean - sermo humilis

There is an old saying that, "You become like the people you hang 'round." This is true, as far as it goes - which is usually downward. Holiness is not contagious. But Man, in his fallen state, can and will pollute what he touches. Throughout scripture, goodness is not the … [Read more...] about On Being Made Clean

3 Weeks before Marriage - House and Fishing Gear - Sermo Humilis

He reads in the bible that he is the head of the wife and then begins to fill this language with ideas from elsewhere: From his stint in the Army, the shift manager at work, or from leadership tips picked up at the pub. In short, … [Read more...] about 3 Weeks before Marriage – Her House, His Fishing Gear

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
