Life in Christendom

Fellowship

23 September 2021 By David Trounce

Fellowship - Sermo Humilis

Fellowship with other believers is a wonderful thing. In coming together we find comfort, strength, spiritual growth, humility, and joy. We find a home away from home in our travels and rest from our labour among friends. All of which is grounded, and contingent upon walking … [Read more...] about Fellowship

Forward Escape - Sermo Humilis

Jesus was non-compliant. He did not live His life along the lines drawn by the religious leaders or even the civil leaders of His day. He lived His life along the lines laid out for Him by God and taught His disciples to do likewise. This did not require rebellion. It required … [Read more...] about Plant and Build

Life in The Spirit

Life in The Spirit - Sermo Humilis

Weight Lifting - Sermo Humilis

There is a weight that comes with caring for those you love. Parents feel it, as do doctors, nurses and employers—and a whole host of others. How should we respond to the weight of responsibility to love others? Is there a contradiction between the responsibility to love and the … [Read more...] about Weight Lifting

Busy

Busy - Sermo Humilis

Many of us have complained at some point about being too busy. Jesus was busy. In Mark 5:21-43, having fed a multitude of people with the words of eternal life on the shores of Galilee, to calming a storm at sea, Jesus heads for the Gadarene on the other side. Setting His foot … [Read more...] about Busy

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
