#21 Sitting Under a Fig - A Survey of Christ in the Old Testament

As predicted by Elisha, the downfall of Samaria (The Northern tribes of Israel), has occurred. We know why it occurred. #20 Jonah - A Survey of Christ in the Old Testament

In the gospel, God appoints His Son Jesus to take upon Himself the sins of the people. To that end, Jesus goes down into Sheol – down into the grave. Down into exile. In doing this, Jesus is a picture of Israel and represents God's People. God then brings His Son back into the … [Read more...] about #20 Jonah – OT Survey

The God Who Saves - Sermo Humilis

The Christian faith stands unique in all of history as the only faith that has a God who saves. Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva do not save. The god of Islam does not save. Confucius does not save. Buddha does not save. Atheism does not save. The state does not save. These all admit … [Read more...] about The God Who Saves

#19 Walk Like an Egyptian - A Survey of Christ in the Old Testament

Though Solomon begins well, he later falls into repeated sin. Solomon sins against the law of kings in that he amasses horses, gold, chariots, and foreign women (Deuteronomy 17:16-17). Because of Solomon's sin, the nation of Israel is torn in two - Israel and it's 10 tribes in … [Read more...] about #19 Walk Like an Egyptian – OT Survey

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
