A Man Called Peter

A Man Called Peter - Sermo Humilis

Peter's life is a rich example of what it means to be held on to, rather than to be holding on. What it means to be made strong, rather than to be strong. His life was cut short, but the fruitfulness of his labour has been long, real long. Peter was one of Jesus Christ's … [Read more...] about A Man Called Peter

19 Jesus, Meek but not Weak - The Life and Times of Jesus

The Christian is an enigma to the world. He is a stranger. He belongs to another Kingdom. His ways are so different from the world around him that unbelievers are often left scratching their head (1 Peter 4:4). The Beatitudes that were given to the disciples in Matthew 5 paint … [Read more...] about Jesus, Meek but not Weak

For your typical godly Jew, life was always anchored in something bigger than himself. His identity was anchored in something beyond his immediate experience. Joseph wasn't just Joseph, nor Joseph the carpenter. He was Joseph, from the House of David. Likewise, the first … [Read more...] about Jesus, Our Anchor

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
