Lips of Grace _ Proverbs 4_20-22 - Sermo Humilis

Old Wives Tales - Proverbs 2 - Sermo Humilis

Life with God means leaving behind silly myths and old wives' tales. It means becoming more permanent, not less permanent. It means a growing reverence for God. And where there’s a reverence for God, there’s wisdom, and where there’s wisdom, there’s life. My son, if you receive … [Read more...] about Old Wives Tales ~ Proverbs 2

Wisdom Raises Her Voice _ Proverbs 1_33 - Sermo Humilis

The wise-at-heart start with, "What would Jesus do?".  Sure, it's a cliche, but it's a cliche because it's true. Sure, it's unoriginal, but we're not looking for original. We're not looking for hip or woke. What we are after here is wisdom, and Jesus is the Wisdom of God. It's … [Read more...] about Wisdom Raises Her Voice ~ Proverbs 1:33

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
