Who we Are Instead

The world loves to lay hold of the dictionary and determine the definitions. Politics, religion, faith, male, female, truth, lies.... and more. I prefer the old, unchanging definitions. I prefer reality.

Because we get our theology from the Bible, and not the daily news, we can say with great confidence that this world is heading somewhere wonderful.  The Kingdom of God is growing and will one day cover the earth as the water covers the sea. The seven parables of Matthew 13 … [Read more...] about We are on Schedule

In Pursuit of Harmony

Comments - sermo humilis

Culture is religion externalised. It's what you get when you practise your religion (your 'cultus') in public life. Harmony is what you get when that culture all flows from a single source. Our culture includes our views on marriage, clothing, morality, seatbelts and the … [Read more...] about In Pursuit of Harmony

Keeping up with the Cool Kids - sermo humilis

Suppressing the truth doesn't come without effort. Our attempts to conceal God's truth are like a man attempting to keep his beach ball underwater. It's hard to maintain the pressure in a way that looks respectable. And when attempted, this is the kind of insane culture you … [Read more...] about Keeping up with the Cool Kids

Ants in a Broken World

_By His wounds, we are healed._- sermo humilis

According to atheism, we're small because the cosmos is so big. According to the Bible, we're small because God is so big. According to atheism, the cosmos doesn't give a rip about us. According to the Bible, God so loved the world. How much God loves those who are so … [Read more...] about Ants in a Broken World

Weakness is the Way

When Weakness is the Way - Luger - sermo humilis

Nobody wants to be called weak, at least, not by the world's definition. The world despises the weak and has a habit of crushing them. There is a weakness that can get you crushed. But it is a weakness that's worth having. When God visited His people on the mountain at Horeb, … [Read more...] about Weakness is the Way

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
