What Marriage is for - Marriage Week 2020 - Sermo Humilis

September 13th–19th marks marriage week in Australia, 2020. In a day when many people are no longer sure about what a marriage is, it seemed a good idea to put down not just what the Bible says marriage is, but why it exists at all. #64 Jesus, Holding the Sceptre - The Life and Times of Jesus

What is it we're asking people to see and believe when we share the gospel? In Matthew 27 we see Jesus. We see a king. Innocent, robed in scarlet, wearing a crown, holding the sceptre and suffering for sin. That is the Gospel. That's what we want people to see and believe. Now … [Read more...] about Jesus, Holding the Sceptre

Straight Paths _ Proverbs 3_5-6 - Sermo Humilis

The wise son believes that the word of God is a more reliable guide to life than his own understanding or experience. He doesn't judge the path he is on by looking around at the scenery that makes up his present circumstances. He looks down and sees the word of God beneath his … [Read more...] about Straight Paths ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
