A Mothers Sacrifice - sermo humilis

Intrigue or value. A week in the Bahamas or a bin full of dirty nappies. A company car and cocktails in Double Bay or split ends, a runny nose and four hours in a hospital waiting room. A mother's sacrifice is considered pretty mundane. It lacks the intrigue and allure of … [Read more...] about Mothers ~ Makers of Humanity

Table Manners - sermo humilis

The occasion … [Read more...] about Table Manners

Delighting in Eternity - sermo humilis

One of the things that worry some Christians about eternity is the idea of an endless and unchanging universe. Will we get bored? Will life become monotonous? One way to answer that question is by asking another: Are you bored now? In his book, Orthodoxy, G. K Chesterton … [Read more...] about Delighting in Eternity

The goal of the gospel, which is to say, the goal of all history, is the reunion of things separated. That … [Read more...] about The Marriage of Matthew and Sarah

Thor's Oak

Around 723 AD, a missionary named Boniface entered Hesse in Germany. Upon finding a sacred tree named Thor’s Oak, he took an axe to it, cut it down and built a church. Many in the town, believing that the God of Boniface must be greater than Thor, left their paganism behind converted to Christianity.
